Our classrooms have a wide range of learning experiences which enable children to develop and reach their highest potential as per their interests. We use their abilities as a guide for developing activities and projects with the aim to further enhance their knowledge and skills.
Our Montessori Toddler regime covers the main developmental milestones in children between the ages of 19 months to 3 years old. The major focus for this age group is set at honing gross motor, social and language skills by encouraging planned cooperative play. The child-centric environment of these rooms encourages self-discipline and refines important skills like concentration, self-control, and motivation all the while instilling self-confidence by letting children choose the mode of learning.
Reggio Emilia toddlers at Sunvalley Kids Montessori learn through hands-on activities and active play under the gentle guidance of teachers who understand and appreciate a young child’s unique developmental needs and abilities. Children at this age are very curious and excel when their curiosity is sparked by natural materials that promote exploration. Allowing toddlers to explore and test their bounds at this age also promotes motivational learning while instilling self-confidence.
This approach helps engage children in active learning activities. As they are naturally motivated to play, this program uses this motivation by using play as a context for learning. In this way, children can explore, experiment, discover and solve problems in innovative and enjoyable ways.
Play-based learning in our toddler room involves both child-initiated and teacher-supported learning. The teacher usually encourages children’s curiosity through interactions that aim to stretch their thinking to higher levels in order to get them ready for preschool.
Our preschool & Kindergarten curriculum design reinforces academic skills to ensure students retain what they learn over time. Every six weeks, throughout the school year, students will repeat the skill they have learned to prepare them for Pre-Kindergarten and beyond.
In our Preschool & Kindergarten Montessori classrooms, teachers prefer to act as “guides” who facilitate the learning experience, rather than determine what it will look like. These programs are inspired by Montessori methods that inspire natural creativity, work on fine motor skills and completing everyday activities, such as cooking and arts and crafts. Older preschoolers broaden their learning experience to their communities, through trips and special events spread evenly throughout the academic year. This mode of learning is highly individualized to each child’s sensitive period/ interests and emphasizes concrete hands-on learning.
This program is designed to ensure that children excel later in kindergarten. The focus is on introducing children to different areas such as science, arts math, etc. as per their individual understanding of the particular subject. Teachers in this environment aim to encourage individual independence to ensure a smooth transition into Kindergarten. Activities and lesson plans are customized based on each child’s needs. Students learn to solve simple addition and subtraction problems, develop social and emotional skills, and are able to retell a story from beginning to end, among other skills.
Play-based learning opportunities in our preschool and kindergarten rooms are a bit more structured and advanced. The older the children, the deeper their desire to explore the complexity of nature becomes. Our high quality play-based preschool & kindergarten programs expose children to new concepts and encourage problem-solving through self-initiated activities guided by teachers.
Innovative learning opportunities that spark children’s interests have not only yielded higher learning outcomes in our preschool & Kindergarten rooms but have also made children happier and more motivated to learn.
